The eye’s eyewitnesses were described by the “chaos” that took place outside the Wales prince Pub.
Yobs was seen clashes with police, on foot and horses, after the Cardiff City conflict against Bristol City caused violence among football hooligans.
The match began at the Cardiff City stadium before a shocking disorder broke out at the junction of St. Mary and Wood Street.
One witness said Wales Online: “Football fans hit our bus as they pass, masked one just pushed the bus door we are on.
“He cracked the glass. The bus driver has some radio that speaks to all the buses to avoid the city center.”
Another claimed: “I would say there were about 100 of them, and police with Troncheoni were trying to run them down Westgate Street.
“One of them hit the door and the glass broke. We were pretty shaken.”
The police spokesman said: “South Wales police are aware of some incidents of disorders that occurred in the city center of Cardiff ahead of today’s championship match between Cardiff City and Bristol City at the Cardiff City stadium.
“Officers were very busy in ensuring that fans come to the stadium as safer as possible.
“The derby fastener like this always comes with a very charged atmosphere.
“Unfortunately, there will always be a minority that will seek to get involved in the mess, but officials respond quickly to stopping any such incidents.
“The police surgery is in place to ensure that both sets of supporters can leave the stadium after the game.”
Bristol City currently wins 1 – 0 against Cardiff City.
Council leader Cardiff Huw Thomas thanked the police and said that there was no “problem” in the city center.
He said: “Although it is disappointing to see the behavior of an auxiliary idiot, there are no permanent problems in the city center of Cardiff and there is no reason to hold on to away.
“I was told that the incidents occurred around 10.30 – grateful to the police of South Wales who were quickly dealing with.”
