Stephanie Pratt of The Hills reignited the feud regarding Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad’s false sex tape. Stephanie is one of the most memorable villains of the show, having caused major fights and seemingly tearing friends apart. Now, ten years later, it seems as though she hasn’t changed.
The Hills chronicled six young women around their personal and professional lives in Los Angeles, CA. The cast included Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, and Whitney Port. Stephanie, Spencer Pratt’s sister, was initially brought in as a guest character and immediately made waves, as she was was not only involved in a love triangle with Audrina and Justin Bobby, but was also in one of the most tumultuous relationships on the show – with her brother. Between filming season 2 and 3 of The Hills, rumors of a sex tape first surfaced about Lauren and her then-boyfriend Jason Wahler. The scandal sparked a feud between Lauren and Heidi, as Lauren always believed that Spencer and Heidi were behind leaking the rumor, though they denied any involvement. Heidi and Lauren’s friendship was over after Heidi began dating Spencer.
Feuds never seem to die, no matter how long a series has been on break. With nearly 10 years between The Hills and the reboot The Hills: New Beginnings, fans have noticed that the old wounds are still just as fresh. In 2009, Lauren had ended the sex-tape story scandal by saying that she had Spencer’s video confession lying about not having any involvement in leaking the story. Now, ten years on it, seems that Stephanie has a different account of what happened and who the culprit is. The feud between Lauren and Heidi has reignited thanks to Stephanie.
According to E!, Stephanie went on an Instagram rampage towards her sister-in-law, Heidi, and said, “I have no words for how evil you truly are- you had no choice to admit all of the lies you’ve been spewing about me was for a magazine cover and for real WE ALL KNOW WHAT YOU DID 10 years ago.” Stephanie continued the rant about Heidi, saying, “You awful human being- and to your BEST FRIEND? You are truly a hideous person.” It seemed obvious to fans that she’s referring to Lauren and the sex-tape scandal. In a confusing turn of events, Stephanie went back to Instagram to defend her brother, saying that he had nothing to do with the leaked tape scandal, essentially putting all of the blame on Heidi.
Every week, Stephanie seems to go to social media to set the record straight, like in the past weeks when she posted an emotional video of her saying that the disagreement between her and her brother was edited all wrong. Fans can tune in every Monday on MTV to watch the saga play out (and on Stephanie’s Instagram after the show to get her side of it). However, with this new chapter that is The Hills: New Beginnings, there is still the hope that things might change for the better because – after all – the rest is still unwritten.
