- Her interest in theatre began when her parents took her to see The Phantom of the Opera at the age of four. Talking about this, she said:
Normally, that’s not the case, but we’ll see what we can do.’ So I went two nights in a row, and on the second day, I brought a Beanie Baby for Phantom – a ghost – because he was the Phantom of the Opera. And my mom said, ‘I don’t know how we’re going to get this Beanie Baby for Phantom.’ [But after the show]this man—his name was Brad Little—took me and my parents backstage for an hour after a performance of Phantom. He took me on a boat ride, showed me the prosthetics, the mirrors, the costumes. That night, my mom said, “Hey, do you know how to take swimming lessons? We could do that.”
