Stevie Wonder is on a mission.
On Thursday, September 19, the legendary singer announced the dates for Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart tour in an attempt to influence voters ahead of Election Day.
The 10-date arena tour is set to kick off Oct. 8 in Pittsburgh, Penn. The singer, 74, will then perform in the battleground states, calling for “joy instead of anger, kindness instead of recrimination, peace instead of war,” he said in a press release.
Wonder will perform in Maryland, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Tickets for the shows went on sale Friday, September 20 at Ticketmaster.
Wonder named the upcoming tour after his recent single “Can We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart,” his first song in four years.
Stevie Wonder, John Legend and Sheila E. cover Prince’s ‘Let’s Go Crazy’ at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
The tour announcement comes after Wonder performed at the Democratic National Convention on August 23, 2024. He took the stage with John Legend and Sheila E. to perform a cover of Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy.”
Two days earlier, he graced the stage to deliver a heartfelt speech in support of Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. After his speech, he broke into a rendition of the 1973 hit “Higher Ground.”
“I love you. Every song I’ve sung, every song I’ve written is because of my love for you right here,” he said at the time.
“But this year I have been praying hard for peace to come to the nations of our world, but also to all our hearts, even though our hearts have been beaten and broken outside of prayer, I know how important action is,” Wonder said. “Now is the time to understand where we are and what is needed to win. Win the broken hearts, win the disappointed, win the angry spirits. Now is the time.”
Wonder’s last tour was The Stevie Wonder Song Party 2018.
