Stormzy won’t be on the road for a while.
According to BBC On Thursday, January 2, the British rapper (whose real name is Michael Ebenazer Owuo Junior) was banned from driving for nine months after an off-duty police officer caught him using a cell phone while driving.
In the letter, Stormzy, 31, pleaded guilty to driving a Rolls-Royce Wraith while using the device in London in March last year, according to the publication.

When he was pulled over, the officer allegedly knocked on the tinted window of the Grime star’s car and told him: “Get off your colors and get off your phone.”
Although Stormzy initially denied the charges, he later wrote a note to the court pleading “guilty.”
In addition to the nine-month driving ban, the “Clash” singer was fined £2,010 (roughly $2,400) and given penalty points on his licence. (Stormzy already had six points on his license for previous speeding violations, according to the court.)
Stormzy did not attend the hearing in person on Thursday, January 2 at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court. Instead, his lawyer, Peter Csemiczky, said his client apologized and accepted his sentence.
The presiding judge, Andrew Sweet, called the incident involving Stormzy “dangerous and irresponsible”, adding that his driving record was “not good”. He also called Stormzy’s actions “dangerous and irresponsible.”
During the hearing, prosecutor Alice Holloway said the incident had put “vulnerable road users at risk”.
Stormzy’s lawyer told Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court that the musician accepted responsibility for his actions.
Last July, the “Hide and Seek” artist pleaded guilty to driving a Lamborghini with improperly tinted windows in an incident that occurred in October 2023. BBC.
