Les Dennis revealed his children’s sweet reaction to his joining Strictly Come Dancing.

Host and actor, who is perhaps best known for his long-standing hosting appearance on Family wealthwas chatting in a recent Q&A ahead of series 21 starting this weekend when he opened up about how his family, including wife Claire Nicholson and his three children, have come to terms with the news.

“My wife was crying,” he began, adding, “My kids were really excited too. Yeah, all my friends and family got in touch too, and Michael Ball was the first one to text me.”

In a separate interview, Les revealed more about Claire’s emotional reaction: “She was crying, but in a good way. She wasn’t crying saying ‘Don’t do it!'”

In addition to his work as a presenter, Les has acted in television shows including Coronation Street, perished, Birds of a Feather and more. He is also no stranger to performing in front of live audiences having appeared in many West End stage productions, including the role of Grandpa in the musical adaptation Only fools and horses.

But he seems to be dancing in the Strictly the ballroom is a whole new experience that Les has to get used to. “It’s so different for me. I mean, in musicals, I usually play a comedy role where I have like a soft shoe shuffle or a little bit of movement, but I’ve never done ballroom or Latin.”

Who is Les Dennis’s wife?

Les Dennis was married three times. The star was first married to Lynne Webster for 16 years, but the couple separated in 1990.

His second wife was television star and radio DJ Amanda Holden. Les and Amanda married in 1995, but after an affair between Amanda and fellow actor Neil Morrissey was exposed, they divorced in 2003. Despite the infidelity, there seems to be no bad blood between Amanda and Les today.

The Family Fortune star previously said: “Amanda was in the papers recently, saying some nice things about me. That was very kind of her. “Perhaps with time she has been able to look back and see things differently. We’re not in touch but I’m happy she’s happy.” He added: “I can watch Britain’s Got Talent without getting angry. To be honest, it’s like watching another person, someone I’ve never met.”

Les Dennis is now happily married to Claire Nicholson. The couple met in 2005 and married in a ceremony in Highgate, London.

Les Dennis is a father of three children. He shares his eldest son Phillip (43) with his first wife Lynne, and his two youngest, daughter Eleanor (15) and son Thomas (12) with his third wife Claire.

When does Strictly Come Dancing 2023 start?

Strictly 2023 will begin with the premiere show, which will be broadcast on Saturday, September 16. The presentation was pre-recorded and then shown on BBC One, and will see celebrities paired with their professional dance partners. The first live show will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Saturday 23 September.
