Strictly stars Giovanni Pernice and Amanda Abbington hail ‘trust’ in partnership amid tension rumours

Giovanni Pernice and Amanda Abbington proved they are the first in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing, after scoring an incredible 32 for their Salsa in just the second week of the show.

Their routine, which you can see in part below, was packed with substance and plenty of daring lifts. However, off the dance floor there were speculations that the pair were not getting along, which they quickly denied as they shared encouraging messages with each other.

They appear to have addressed the rumors once again as they spoke to Claudia Winkleman, revealing that they wouldn’t have been able to pull off their incredible lifts if they didn’t have complete “trust” in each other.

Giovanni hailed Amanda as “amazing” saying: “To trust me like that in the second week. Lifts are a very difficult thing to do, all the trust is in me.” Amanda echoed similar sentiments when she spoke to Tess Daly after her routine.
