Killed her 4 year old son
Suchana Seth was accused of killing her 4-year-old son in a service apartment in Goa in January 2024. She reportedly strangled her son to death with a pillow or towel. According to some sources, Suchana Seth traveled to Goa with her son on January 6, 2024, where she rented a serviced apartment in the Candolim area of North Goa. After staying there for two days, she asked the apartment staff to arrange a cab to Bangalore as she had a job there. Although the staff advised her to take a flight to Bangalore as the taxi fare was Rs. 30,000 (much more than a plane ticket), Suchana said she just wanted to take a taxi. On January 8, the hotel staff arranged a taxi and she left for Bengaluru. When the hotel staff went to clean the room where Seth checked out, they found blood stains on the towels and immediately informed the Calangute police about the incident. They also told police her son was not with her when she left the hotel and her suitcase was heavy. When the police called her to confirm the blood stains and her son’s whereabouts, she replied that the blood stains were due to her menstruation, adding that her son was with her friends in Margao. She also provided her friend’s address, which turned out to be false. The police then called the taxi driver and asked him to take Suchana Seth to the nearest police station. Suchana was arrested by Calangute police from Chitradurga police station and brought back to Goa with her son’s body in her travel bag. She was subsequently remanded in custody for six days by the Mapusa Town Court.
During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Seth attempted suicide by slitting his wrists with scissors. Two bottles of cough syrup were found in the apartment where she killed her son. Suchana was charged under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Goa Child Act. Although the exact reason for the crime is not yet known, police suspect Suchana’s strained relationship with her husband could be the reason behind the crime. Police also said Seth was unhappy with a Bengaluru family court order requiring his son’s father to meet him every Sunday.
