She made her acting debut in 1987 in the television series Chunauti aired on DD National. She appeared in various television commercials. She made her debut in the Bollywood film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa in 1994, opposite Shah Rukh Khan and Deepak Tijoli.
Suchitra is a trained singer of “Gwalior Gharana style” (a type of Indian classical music). As a singer, she also released popular albums “Dole Dole”, “Dum Tara”, “Aha” and “Zinda”.
In 2009, she published her first novel “Cool Summer” and in 2013 she published her semi-autobiography “Drama Queen”.
