Sudhir Chaudhary is an Indian journalist, news anchor and editor. He was the editor-in-chief of Hindi news channel Zee News. He was awarded the ‘Ramnath Goenka Award’ for excellence in journalism.

Sudhir started his career as a journalist in 1993 with Zee News. Zee News had just started operations at that time. Chaudhary joined the channel as a news anchor and covered many high-profile stories including the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and the Kargil War. He was also part of the team that covered the meeting between Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pervez Musharraf in Islamabad after the terror attacks. In 2003, he resigned from Zee News and joined Hindi news channel Sahara Samay. Sudhir played an important role in launching the Sahara Samay by the Sahara Group. He worked there for a short period and then joined India Television. He again worked there briefly and joined Live India as the channel’s editor-in-chief. In 2012, Sudhir returned to Zee News as editor-in-chief. Thereafter, he hosted the popular prime-time news program “Daily News and Analysis” (DNA). On July 1, 2022, he resigned as CEO of Zee Media; this was announced through a statement issued by Zee Media, which reads:

In 2015, Sudhir was awarded the Ramnath Goenka Journalism Award for Excellence in the category “Hindi Broadcasting”. He also won an award for his interviews with friends of Delhi gang-rape victims.

- In 2012, Sudhir Chaudhary and Sameer Ahluwalia were accused by Congress MP Naveen Jindal of trying to extort money worth 100 crore from his company rupees of advertising in exchange for dropping coverage of the Jindal Group’s links to Colgate. .
- On December 19, 2016, Sudhir Chaudhary and Zee News West Bengal reporter and photographer Tanmay Mukherjee were booked by the police for covering the Dhulagarh riots. The trio was booked on a non-bailable charge under Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, caste, creed, language or place of birth) of the IPC.
- In May 2020, Adv P Gavas, state joint secretary of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) of the Communist Party of India in Kerala, lodged a complaint against Joe at the Kozhikode Kasaba police station in Kerala under non-bailable Section 295 A of the IPC. An FIR was filed against Dhuri; it was alleged that he had hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslim community in a program aired on Zee News on March 11, 2020; he allegedly targeted Muslims in the country through a “jihad flow chart”.
- On September 13, 2023, an FIR was lodged against Sudhir Chaudhary at Seshadripuram police station in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He was accused of conspiring to destroy communal harmony and spreading misinformation in a program hosted on Aaj Tak channel. The controversy started on September 11, 2023, when Sudhir discussed the Karnataka government’s commercial vehicle subsidy scheme for minority communities on the show. During the show, he claimed that the Karnataka government offered the scheme to minorities but ignored non-minority Hindus, accusing the government of appeasing minorities in the state. Following this, a complaint was lodged by an official of the Karnataka Minority Development Corporation, resulting in Sudhir being booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). However, Sudhir later addressed the issue via a post on X, writing:
Received information about an FIR initiated against me by the Congress government in Karnataka. The answer to the question is FIR? The same is true for the non-bailable portion. This means being fully prepared for an arrest. My question is why the Hindu community was not included in the Sarathi plan for self-reliance? I’m ready for this fight too. See you in court now. “
