Sudhir is an Indian para-weightlifter. In August 2022, he made headlines for the first time in India’s history when he won the men’s heavyweight para-weightlifting gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Sudhir started practicing weightlifting professionally in 2013. He participated in the Asian Para Games held in Indonesia and won the gold medal in the 80kg category. Later, he was appointed as senior coach in Haryana government. In 2018, he was awarded the title “Strongest Man of India” at the 17th Senior and 12th National Para Weightlifting Championships. In 2022, he participated in the Commonwealth Games, lifting 208 kg for the first time and 212 kg for the second time. However, on his third attempt, he failed to lift 217 kg. After winning the final of the Para Weightlifting Championships, he became the first Indian man to win a weightlifting gold medal for India, setting a record with a total score of 134.5. He defeated his Nigerian opponent Ikechukwu Obikuku by 0.9 points.

- After winning the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, Sudhir looked very excited at the media conference and spoke about his upcoming plans during the discussion. He said he wanted to celebrate his win by shopping in London and visiting the city. He said,
My preparation was very good and I thank Birmingham for that. The preparation was great, the weather was great and the crowds were great – it was great. Next up is a celebration for me: I’m going to London to do some shopping and see the city. “

- In a media chat, Sudhir revealed that he was inspired by players Cristiano Ronaldo and Virender Sehwag. He added that he used to watch a lot of cricket matches before choosing weightlifting as a career. According to him, he likes Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar.
