Sudiksha/Sudeeksha Bhati was an Indian student studying in the United States on scholarship. She died on August 10, 2020, in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, after being molested by two local boys.

Sudiqsha was born in 2000 (at the age of 20) in Delhi-Skarna, Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. She attended Vidyagyan School, Bulandshahr, a scheme of Shiv Nadar Foundation, Bulandshahr. She scored 98% in her class 12 Humanities examination and was the top student in her district. Later, she received a scholarship of Rs. 3.8 crore from Bobson College, USA. She completed a four-week pre-university course at Lehigh University, USA. She is studying Global Business Management and Finance at Bobson College, USA.

She was born into a poor family. Her father, Jeetendra Bhati, used to run a small tea stall in Bulandshahr. She was the eldest of six siblings. Her uncle’s name was Satendra Bhati.

She was returning home from the US due to the COVID-19 lockdown. According to reports, on Monday, August 10, 2020, she was on a motorcycle with her uncle to her maternal uncle’s house. On the way, two local boys riding Royal Enfield Bullet started following her and teasing her. The local boys tried to overtake her several times; as a result, Sudeeksha’s uncle lost control and she fell off the motorcycle and hit her head heavily on the road; due to which she lost her life. Her father said that it was a case of murder and not an accident.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Bulandshahr Police Station said:
Aurangabad police station received a report of a traffic accident. “Police rushed to the spot. Upon investigation, it was found that Sudiqsha was going to her uncle’s house with her uncle, where the accident took place. Her brother and witnesses were questioned and said that a bullet motorcycle came from the front. The bullet motorcycle stopped due to traffic jam and collided with the siblings due to brakes. The girl died after the collision. The body was sent for post-mortem and the case is under investigation. At that time, the girl’s brother or others did not disclose the sexual harassment incident. Further action is being taken.”

- Her family and friends often call her “Sonu”.
- She was selected for the summer program at the Pennsylvania Global Entrepreneurship Academy (Lehigh University, USA) and went abroad for the first time. She was one of the 76 Indian students selected. After that, she started preparing for exams such as SAT and TOEFL.
- In an interview, she once revealed her poor financial situation. She said,
I didn’t pay for a year of school. I got top marks in second grade, but I was told that I would only get a trophy and transcript if I paid. At first I was very angry with my father and blamed him for being illiterate. But a few days later, I was admitted to a public school.”
- She used to use her vacation time to teach poor students in her hometown.
- She founded Women’s Voices to support girls. In an interview, she said,
It is a small door-to-door awareness campaign in our village and surrounding areas to convince parents to send their daughters to school and also to discourage molestation of girls.”
