Sumbul Touqeer Khan is an Indian film and television actress. She is known for playing the eponymous character in the Star Plus television series Imlie (2020).

Her father Touqeer Hasan Khan is a television serial choreographer and her sister Saniya Touqeer is also an actress.
Her parents divorced when she was six years old, and she even tried to find a suitable partner for her father, but he refused. In an interview, she talked about this. She said,
My parents divorced when I was six years old, and although life was very different from before, it was not difficult because I loved my father and he took care of me and my sister like a father and mother. My father used to wake us up, get us ready, prepare breakfast, and then he would go to work after we went to school. Before we moved to Delhi, my mother and I were very close and my father had no problem with it. But after moving to Mumbai, I lost touch with my mother. ”
In June 2023, Sumbul and her sister Saniya Touqeer announced that their father had decided to remarry. The woman he was going to marry was Nilofar, who had separated from her first husband and had a daughter named Izra with her previous wife.

In 2011, she played the role of Shubhada in the Sony TV series Chandragupta Maurya. In 2013, she acted in the popular TV series Jodha Akbar, in which she played the role of Mehtab. She also acted in the TV series Waaris in 2016 and Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein in 2019.
In 2018, she acted in the Hindi short film Ghar Ki Jyoti. She acted in the hit Hindi film Article 15 (2019), starring Ayushmann Khurrana. In 2020, she came into the limelight with the Star Plus serial Imlie, in which she played the lead role.

I do get criticised by society because of my Muslim background because they think that me and my sister (who is also an actress) shouldn’t be in the entertainment industry. They tend to have misconceptions about the industry and therefore think that young girls like us are not cut out for it. But I want to talk about how hard my father has worked for us. He has been a rock for us. It is because he believes in us and our craft that we have been able to make a mark in the industry. He always has faith in our work. ”

So this acting career was basically given to me and my sister (who is also an actor) by my dad. My sister and I did a lot of Krishna and Ram Leela dramas in Delhi and that’s when we got interested in acting.”

My wedding is going to last a long time (laughs) First of all, everything should be very clear in a marriage. I am very clear that I want to work. I believe in equality, and if my husband goes to work, I want to go to work too, no questions asked. My husband should be there for me when I get home from get off work, just asking me how my day was or if I am okay. He should be emotionally supportive of me. Even if he doesn’t ask anything, just being there for me after a long day at work is enough. ”
