Supriya Shrinate was born on Thursday, October 27, 1977, in Mahrajganj, Uttar Pradesh (age 46; as of 2023). She completed her education from Loreto Convent, Lucknow in 1996. She received her postgraduate degree in Political Science, History and Economics from Lucknow University in 1999. In 2001, she pursued her MA in History from Shri Ram College for Women. Supriya started her career with Indian news channel India Today in October 2001 as a special correspondent till September 2004, where she worked as a news reader and proofreader for three years. She joined NDTV News Channel in October 2004 as an Assistant Editor. She spent four years working in news reporting, editing, and scriptwriting. In September 2008, she became the news editor of the Economic Times Channel, ET Now and Times of India Group in New Delhi. During her ten-year tenure at The Economic Times, she served as executive editor and policy editor.

In April 2019, she quit her job at news channel ET Now and contested the Indian general election from Maharajganj constituency in Uttar Pradesh on the ticket of the Indian National Congress; she lost the election to Pankaj Chaudu of the Bharatiya Janata Party (Pankaj Choudhary).

She is the star campaigner of the Indian National Congress in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
