She started her film career at the age of 11 as a cashier in the film “Rao Gari Illu (1988)”. When she was 16, she organized Gaayam’s Visakhapatnam schedule (1993). She made her acting debut at the age of 18 with the film Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi (1996).
After her films didn’t do well, she decided to quit acting and start producing. The first film she produced was “Aha…” (1997).
She has since worked as a producer and in 2000 became the executive director of a production company called Annapurna Studios. In 2018, she made her comeback as an actress with “Goodachari”.
Facts/Trivia
- When Supriya felt that acting was not working out, she decided to do something else. She went to her uncle Nagarjuna and asked him if he had any work for her. He was making “Aha…! (1997)” at the time and hired her as a producer.
- In an interview, she revealed that she enjoys playing negative roles in movies. She added –
I can play negative roles, and I personally think I am suitable for negative roles. “
- She is rumored to be getting married to Adivi Sesh. When things got out of hand, Adivi announced on his social media account that he was only thinking about his career and not his marriage.
- In 2018, she was appointed as the convener of the 21-member Joint Action Committee after casting scandals began to mount in the South Indian film industry. This committee was formed specifically to protect actors who have fallen victim to the casting couch and to protect them from its influence.
