Career of Surinder Shinda
Legendary Punjabi singer Surinder Shinda has had a long and fruitful career. His first album, “Ucha Burj Lahore Da,” was released in 1979. He started singing in the early 1970s. Due to the huge success of the album, Shinda became famous all over Punjab.
Shinda subsequently released more than 165 albums, some of which were also hits. He is best known for his songs “Jatt Jeona Morh,” “Putt Jattan De,” “Truck Billiya,” “Balbiro Bhabhi,” and “Kaher Singh Di Mout.” In addition, he appeared in a number of Punjabi films, such as “Putt Jattan De” and “Ucha Dar Babe Nanak Da.”
Shinda was known for his distinctive vocal style, which combined elements of classical and folk music. He was also a talented songwriter, he wrote several of his own songs. Many other Punjabi singers such as Kuldeep Manak, Amar Singh Chamkila and Gill Hardeep were greatly influenced by Shinda.
When Shinda died in 2023 at the age of 64, his career was over. He is survived by his wife, two children and one daughter.

Veteran Punjabi singer Surinder Shinda has passed away.
After a prolonged illness, Surinder Shinda passed away at a hospital in Ludhiana on Wednesday.
Surinder Shinda, the famous Punjabi musician best known for his famous songs Putt Jattan De, Jatt Deona Morh and Truck Balliya, passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital in Ludhiana after prolonged illness. In his 60s, Surinder Shinda passed away at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. He performed in a number of popular Punjabi films, including Putt Jattan De, Ucha Dar Babe Nanak Da and Badla Jatti Da, during his singing career.
Politicians and artistes have expressed grief over Shinda’s death. “Very sad to hear the news of the death of famous singer Surinder Shinda ji,” Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann tweeted. Punjab’s voice is now permanently mute. Sukhbir Singh Badal, leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, lauded the singer’s invaluable contribution to Punjabi music.

Shinda Ji will be missed by many of his millions of fans around the world. In a tweet, Badal wished the soul of the deceased to find peace.
Besides expressing grief over Shinda’s death, singer-actor Harbhajan Mann asserted that Punjabi music has lost something that can never be replaced. Mann tweeted: “The end of the golden era of Punjabi folk singing.”
