rejoice, Ted Lasso fans — Rebecca Welton and Ted Lasso are back together!
Jason Sudeikis reunited with his Apple TV+ co-star Hannah Waddingham on Saturday for his annual Thundergong! benefit event in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, where the Emmy winners performed Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s duet of “Shallow” from A star is born.
Before Waddingham took the stage, Sudeikis told his colleague Saturday night live alum Will Forte, “There’s nobody I’d rather sing this song with,” to cheers from the crowd.
And though Forte seemed to think he’d be the one to take on Lady Gaga’s verse, Waddingham walked over to Sudeikis and jokingly placed her palm on Forte’s face to push him away from center stage as she called on her award-winning vocalist to sing, “Say I something boy…”

Waddingham, 49, and Sudeikis, 48 — whose characters started out as enemies but developed a close relationship — performed the rest of the duet together, and Forte left the stage. The former collaborators shared a few sweet moments together during the song, and when it ended, they hugged and hugged each other before Waddingham left the stage.
Forte, 53, also received a pep talk from Sudeikis after thanking Waddingham for her appearance at the annual charity event, which raises money for amputees in need.

Sudeikis and Waddingham’s duet comes five months after the last episode Ted Lasso premiered in June.
The actress reflected on the ending of the show as she said Entertainment Weekly that she and her co-star Brett Goldstein are “in mourning.”
She also shared that “none” of the cast knew if the series would continue in some form — either as a spinoff or a story without the title character. “I don’t know,” she said. “None of us knows. I don’t even know if Jason knows. If he does, then he is a cunning dog.”

As for the possibility of a spinoff focusing on her favorite character, Waddingham said, “It’s not something I’ve thought about.”
She continued: “But if there was more, I would definitely accept that idea. I’d be crazy not to. It’s a beautifully crafted role that I luckily played a big part in. I’m totally invested in her, so I would always take it.”
Hannah Waddingham recalls her emotional final day of filming ‘Ted Lasso’ season 3
After the series ended, co-creator Brendan Hunt revealed that the fate of Waddingham’s character could have been very different – and possibly include a romance with Ted.
Asked by a fan on Reddit if a romance between the two characters was being considered, Hunt replied: “Professional responsibility, yes. But never enthusiastically.”

He also discussed the choice for Ted and Rebecca not to say “I love you” to each other in the final episode.
“It wasn’t specifically discussed,” Hunt said in his response to another fan’s question. “I’ll note, as you do, that Rebecca doesn’t say that either, so I wouldn’t call it unbalanced.”
He described Rebecca as Ted’s “cosmicly connected platonic soulmate” and said that in an emotional scene at the airport where they say goodbye, “they both struggle with whether or not to say it.”
“But they both instinctively know that if they do, it could open a dam they’d rather not open.”
