Naomi, who lost her son Jamie Rees after he suffered a heart attack three years ago, is now campaigning for defibrillators to be fitted to all police vehicles following the tragedy.
The terrible incident happened while Jamie was celebrating the New Year with his friends in Rugby.
His friends quickly administered CPR after he collapsed from chest pains, but a defibrillator, one minute away at a nearby elementary school, could not be accessed because the school was on lockdown.
Sadly, the young man died five days later at University Hospital Coventry.
Naomi’s campaign to install the device in police cars could help solve the defibrillator problem for future emergencies.
Susanna was clearly emotional during the discussion and, as the interview concluded, rushed across the sofa to hug her.
There was a moment of silence in the GMB studio before Susanna told her: “You’re amazing.
“It’s such an important thing you’re doing.”
Susan’s co-host Ed Balls, 54, told Naomi: “Imagine how proud Jamie would be.”
The parent, who was in Canada when Jamie passed out, replied: “I hear him in my ear all the time telling me not to forget to say this.”

Earlier in the episode, Naomi – who is now president of the OurJay Foundation – showed how easy it is to use a defibrillator to try and ease any fear.
Speaking about how it could have saved Jamie’s life, she said in her raw chat: “Jamie’s heart actually restarted.
“It was a one-in-a-million case that still had a shocking effect, even after 20 minutes.
“So if that defibrillator had been there for 10, 11, 12 minutes, the lack of oxygen wouldn’t have been as severe and there’s every chance it could have been here today if only we’d had access to it.”

After the conversation ended, Ed and Susanna walked over to host Andi Peters, who was also in tears.
It was later revealed that he became so emotional because the conversation triggered a memory of the great importance of a defibrillator in saving a man’s life after he suffered a heart attack at Andi’s gym.
HARD WEEK
It’s been an emotional week for Susannah on the ITV daytime series.
On Monday, a mother of three said she was left “devastated” by the family members of the three teenage victims who died in a car crash.
Susanna and Good Morning Britain co-host Ed welcomed Elliot Pullen’s sister Mia and aunt Laura Oakes to the program for an emotional chat.
In June 2023, Elliot – who was 17 – along with friends Daniel Hancock, 18, and Ethan Goddard, 18, were killed after traveling in a car driven by 19-year-old Thomas Johnson.
He was caught driving his BMW at more than 160km/h on a 50km/h road as he overtook other cars – while shocking footage showed him inhaling laughing gas shortly before tragedy struck.
Johnson then crashed into a tree in Marcham, Oxfordshire – killing all three of his passengers.
In December 2024, Thomas – who suffered life-threatening injuries – pleaded guilty to three counts of causing death by dangerous driving and was sentenced to nine years behind bars.
Susanna described the tragic incident as an “absolutely senseless loss of life” before Mia said: “I just want them to see the horror this has caused our family.
“It absolutely tore us apart.
“Our lives will never be the same. It had such an effect on families, friends. Everyone.”
