T Dilip aka TK Diliep aka TK.Diliep Kumar was born in Hyderabad, Telangana state (formerly Andhra Pradesh), India. According to one source, he was born on Monday, September 1, 1980 (age 43; as of 2023), and according to another source, he was born on Thursday, September 1, 1983 (age 40; as of 2023). His zodiac sign is Virgo. He attended St. Anthony’s High School, Hyderabad. Later, he pursued Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Aurora’s Degree and PG College, Hyderabad. He played cricket while studying at school and college; however, his father did not approve of his playing and told him not to pursue a career in sports. In an interview with Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, T Dilip revealed that he realized his passion for coaching when he used to help some local boys and teach them cricketing skills. He said he later began working as a player-coach at a number of local clubs. He used to make money by teaching math to children during times of financial hardship. In 2004, he participated in the first-level coaching course and won the top three.
From 2008, he became the fielding coach of the U-14, U-16, U-19, U-20 and U-25 teams at Hyderabad Cricket Association Academy, where he met Ramakrishnan Sridhar (popularly known as R Sridhar). The former India fielding coach guided Dilip about the National Cricket Academy (NCA).
In 2009, he started working for Indian Premier League (IPL) side Deccan Chargers as assistant fielding coach to baseball and Australian cricket coach Mike Young. He also worked with many junior Ranji teams as well as various other women’s, regional and national junior teams from 2008 to 2019, where he mentored Axar Patel and Shubman who later played for India. Between 2007 and 2019, he attended A-level refresher courses in Hyderabad, B-level refresher courses in Bangalore and later C-level refresher courses at NCA.
He later worked with many fielding coaches including Trevor Penney and Jonty Rhodes. In November 2021, he was appointed as the fielding coach of the Indian national team, working alongside Rahul Dravid. He became one of the coaches who never played for the Indian team.
He is famous for the 2023 ODI World Cup post-match awards ceremony when they awarded the best fielding medals to players who performed well.
