Schools in Tamil Nadu are closed today, November 23, 2023
Tamil Nadu Schools Closed: Due to incessant rainfall and flooding, schools in Tamil Nadu will remain closed today, November 23, 2023, in several districts. The decision to close schools was made by the prefects of five districts. As per the order issued, all government and private schools in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Toothukudi and Theni districts will be closed today.
According to local media reports, Puducherry and Karaikal regions have been receiving continuous rains for the past 24 hours. On Wednesday, a school holiday was declared in the region. According to reports, Puducherry recorded 5 cm of rain during the last 24 hours, while Karaikal received 9 cm of rain.
Tamil Nadu continues to receive heavy rain in several districts. However, parents and students from Chennai, Karaikal and Puducherry have not yet been informed about the school holiday. The district collectors of Nagai and Mayiladuthurai however asked the school principals to decide whether the schools should remain closed. Schools may also be shifted to online mode due to heavy rain in the state. Students and parents are also advised to contact school authorities for full details on school holidays and school reopenings.
Schools in Puducherry and Karaikal regions were closed yesterday, November 22, 2023. The announcement came after continuous rains lashed the region. Light to moderate rain is expected in Puducherry and Karaikal regions till November 24, 2023, according to the meteorological department.
