Tara Lipinski has come a long way to become the youngest figure skater to win an Olympic gold medal. She started learning to skate at the age of three. She has attended many professional training courses as well as private lessons of different coaches. Before the 1998 Olympics, she also trained with famed figure skating coach Richard Callaghan.
She entered her first major skating competition when she was 8 years old. Her abilities were recognized when, as a nine-year-old girl, she won the ‘1991 American Roller Skating Championships’. She first gained national attention in 1994, when she won the ‘American Olympic Festival’ competition. At this championship, she became the youngest athlete to win a gold medal.
