Taraji P. Henson Takes the Plunge in Sexy (and Shimmery!) Green Gown — See Her Look

Taraji P. Henson brought star power — and sexy style — to Palm Springs, California!

On Thursday, Color Purple actress, 53, wore a bright green dress as she posed for pictures on the red carpet at the 35th Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala at the Desert City Convention Center.

The light green dress had a shine and a deep neckline. Henson’s dress was fitted with loose sleeves that stopped just above her elbows.

Henson wore her hair in a high ponytail with low earrings. She kept the accessories to a minimum, choosing not to wear a necklace, but showed off a few rings on her fingers.

Henson completed her gala look with gold strappy open-toe pumps.

Lenny Kravitz, Willem Dafoe, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell were among the other stars in attendance.

Purple it recently received the second biggest Christmas opening of all time. The musical, which is currently in theaters, is an adaptation of the Broadway musical. It is based on the novel by Alice Walker, which was previously adapted for the big screen in 1985.

At the beginning of December, the cast gathered for the premiere of the film in Los Angeles. Production by Warner Bros. Pictures includes Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg as co-producers.

The remake’s synopsis reads: “A musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s novel about the life struggles of an African-American woman living in the South during the early 1900s.” Henson plays Shug Avery, a sultry blues singer with a heart of gold who is adored by men and the envy of most women.

Other performers in the star-studded lineup include Halle Bailey, Fantasia Barrino, Corey Hawkins, David Alan Grier, Ciara, HER and Deon Cole.

While doing promotional interviews for the film, Henson told SiriusXM radio’s Gayle King that she was “tired of working so hard” and “getting paid for a fraction of the cost.”

The actress’ comments about her past salaries have gone viral.

After the interview with King, Henson shared a photo of herself and Winfrey (69) on Instagram. In her caption, she thanked her supporters for the outpouring of love and the mogul for making her “feel heard.”

She said Winfrey “has been nothing less than a steadfast and steadfast beacon for ALL HEADS Purple!!! She has provided us all with ENCOURAGEMENT, LEADERSHIP, and INDEPENDENT SUPPORT.”

Henson concluded by thanking the former talk show host: “She personally told me to go to her for ANYTHING I needed, and I did! It took ONE CALL… ONE CONVERSATION… and ONE BLACK WOMAN MAKING A DECISION for me to feel heard.”
