Madison LeCroy intended her wedding to be a celebration of love, but of course, hers Southern charm costars had other plans.
On Thursday’s season 9 premiere, Taylor Ann Green met ex-boyfriend Shep Rose for the first time and had a heated argument with Craig Conover for not telling her about 43-year-old Rose’s alleged cheating.
“It was the first time we’d seen each other in a while — it’s probably been a few months — and obviously I found out some things in the meantime and it was pretty upsetting,” Green, 28, tells PEOPLE. “I only wanted to go in there calm, cool and collected, and maybe sad [Shep]but my emotions got the better of me.”

Meanwhile, Conover, 34, tells PEOPLE that it “wasn’t my place” to meddle in Green and Rose’s relationship.
“I love Taylor to death, but Shep has been one of my best friends for a decade,” explains the Sewing Down South founder.
Conover also felt that since Rose had cheated before, the example Green presented at the party — Rose’s flirtation with Lev Bonaparte’s employee Mia Alario — seemed more benign.
“If it was the first time he cheated, I think you have a responsibility to inform the person,” says Conover. “But it has already happened several times. She stayed with him. And so at the end of the day, if nothing is going to change if she finds out that information, I’m not going to run around and talk my friend down. It never crossed my mind to tell Taylor.”

LeCroy’s wedding celebration marked the first time for many of the Southern charm Cast members heard what happened between Green and Rose.
“She didn’t even tell us she had all that stuff,” Bonaparte, 44, tells PEOPLE of Green. “Taylor literally said, ‘Turn around, by the way…’ So we were all like, ‘Whoa, what’s going on?’
Conover stands by his stance that he “did everything he could to prevent that from happening that night,” referring to Rose pursuing Alari. “I physically slammed him against the wall because he was beaten up,” he recalls.

As Conover expressed in the premiere, he feels there’s “a little deflection” going on in terms of Green venting his anger about Rose on him. The premiere ended with Conover telling Green to “stop fucking yelling about s— you don’t know,” and Green asking Conover who he was dating Summer housePaige DeSorbo, how would he feel if “your girlfriend cheated on you?”
“I’ve always guarded her, so I was a little blindsided,” Conover admits. “But I think you’ll see it a lot this year with people taking their frustration out on other people.”
Green knows she could have handled the situation better. “I need to be buttoned up and locked up,” Green jokes. “I feel like Craig and I lost our friendship, and it slowly fell apart, and then it was just the cherry on top. There’s a lot of emotion going on.”

As for what LeCroy thought of the blowout at the party in honor of her marriage to Brett Randle, she tells PEOPLE, “I was hoping it would actually stay classy throughout the event, but we know something is going to happen with this group. I’m just thankful it didn’t involve me, so it’s all good.”
