Once you find a sweatshirt with a quarter or half zip in your closet, you’ll be constantly reaching for it on cold mornings. The style is made to be layered over snug base layers until you’re toasty enough to take it off. Miss Red herself, Taylor Swift, wore one to the Kansas City Chiefs game on Black Friday, and this option from Cotton On is the same cherry red.

It is oversized, made of silky soft brushed fleece and has two side pockets. While Swift’s more casual pullover was cropped and super loose at the waist, this one is a bit more practical with a ribbed hem to keep you warm and allow you to wear it to work over a button-down shirt.

When Cate Blanchett attended a screening of her short film, Marionin London in early December, she went all-in on the holiday vibes. The Oscar winner wore a ribbed turtleneck under a belted jacket – both in candy apple – over raw-edged cropped jeans and bright white shoes. It was a look that combined sophistication and playfulness.

Long coats are an integral part of an elegant winter wardrobe, and this season we saw them on Katie Holmes and Kate Middleton. While the Princess of Wales wore a more subdued wine-colored coat during the official state event in London, she also wore the bright reds she regularly turns to during the holidays.
