“I’m happy for both of them,” the NFL coach said of the musician and the tight end
Taylor Swift is getting some serious praise from Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid!
Ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl, Reid — who coaches the team Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, plays for — spoke with SiriusXM NFL Radio about the couple’s relationship in the middle of football season.
“Listen, it’s an acknowledgment of how she endured it, how Kelce endured it. It wasn’t a distraction, so there was no problem with it,” Reid said in a clip posted on Xformer Twitter, seemingly referring to the attention that has been focused on the couple since they started dating last year.
“She’s a good girl,” he continued, adding, “She loves the game, and she obviously loves Kelce. So I’m happy for both of them.”

Ahead of Sunday’s big game, there was speculation whether Swift — who wrapped up four consecutive Eras Tour performances in Tokyo on Feb. 10 — would be able to travel to Las Vegas in time to see the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
On Saturday, Gracie Hunt — daughter of Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt — confirmed to PEOPLE at the Fanatics Super Bowl Party that Swift, 34, did indeed travel to watch her boyfriend Kelce, also 34, play.
“She is coming! She is coming! We’re excited,” Hunt, 25, said.

Reid’s recent comments aren’t the first time an NFL coach has publicly called out the “Blank Space” singer.
Reid — who helped the Chiefs win Super Bowls in 2020 and 2023 — spoke with Tom Brady and Jim Gray on their SiriusXM podcast, Let’s go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gary, last month, revealing that he actually met Swift before Kelce.
“Yeah, listen, she was great. I knew her before, from Philly. Her dad [Scott Swift] played on [University of] Delaware and was a big football fan and a good guy,” he said. “So that’s where I met him and her.”
Reid even joked that he wasn’t ideal for a tight end when Swift revealed her relationship with Reid. “That was the last thing Trav wanted to hear, that I knew her before him,” he said. “She said to him: ‘I know your coach.’ And he said, ‘Oh, God, come on!’ ”

Back in October 2023, Reid told PEOPLE that he was “glad” Swift attended Chiefs games, as he is a fan of the singer.
“Look, I’m a huge fan, so I’m glad she was here and I hope she enjoyed herself,” Reid said at the time, adding, “She’s got a great boyfriend that she’s dating right now, so I’m happy for both of them.”
