Taylor Swift Speaks Portuguese as She Performs First Ever Show in Lisbon for Eras Tour

Taylor Swift gives a warm welcome to Swifties in Portugal!

The pop superstar, 34, surprised fans by speaking Portuguese to open her first show in Lisbon, Portugal for her Eras tour on Friday (May 24).

IN video published by the author from the concert The Hollywood Reporter on X (formerly Twitter), Swift addressed the cheering crowd as she stood center stage at the Estádio da Luz stadium where she was performing.

“Muito obrigada,” she said as she placed her hand over her heart, which translates to “thank you very much” in English, causing the stadium to erupt into louder cheers. The singer then howled as she continued to stare at the crowd.

Swift addressed fans in Portuguese at her show in Lisbon on May 24.

“Oh Lisbon you … you make me feel amazing right now!” Swift added, clutching her chest again before continuing the show.

Swift also spoke Portuguese elsewhere during the concert as she called for help from fans in the crowd, according to videos posted on social media.

While performing “The Smallest Man in the World” from her new album Department for tortured poetsSwift appeared to ask for help from security as she stood center stage as she said, “Ayuda por favor,” and pointed to the crowd, according to another clip Posted by THR on X.

Swift is performing two shows in Portugal as part of her Eras tour.

In the second video posted on X by a fan, Swift asked for help again as she said, “Ajuda por favor,” while playing the piano during her performance of “Champagne Problems.”

The singer’s concert debut in Portugal comes after a long wait for Portuguese fans. Swift was originally scheduled to perform in the country at the Alive festival in July 2020, which ended up being canceled due to the pandemic, according to the Portuguese resident.

Swift was also seen ua Photography posted on X from Friday’s concert, revealing an updated version of her Roberto Cavalli two-piece for the “1989” performance, this time wearing a sparkly purple bracelet with a sparkly blue mini skirt and blue-purple sparkly boots.

The singer has shown off several new outfits for the European leg of her Eras tour since her show in Paris on May 9.

This includes a custom white Vivienne Westwood dress with lyrics from her latest album TTPDan orange Versace bodysuit and blazer and a yellow Alberta Ferretti dress.

Swift was also supported by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and friends Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper during the Paris leg of her Eras Tour. On May 12, the trio attended her fourth fashion show in Paris.
