Doechii is the winner of Grammy!
Musician “Alter Ego” won the Grammy Award for Best Rap album for his mixtape The bite alligator never cures On Sunday, February 2nd at the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
The rapper gave a cordial speech by accepting the award. Doechii, 26, received a standing ovation as she approached the stage by keeping tears.
“I don’t want to do that long, but this category was presented in 1989. And two women won – three women won – Lauryn Hill, Cardi B and Doechii,” she began an emotional statement, urging her predecessors.
“I invested my heart and my soul in this mixtape. I roared my life. I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety and God told me that I would be rewarded. And I have to thank God.”

“I have to thank my beautiful mother for training me. I want to thank my label, my engineer, misery, for everything she did,” Doechii, whose real name is Jaylah Ji’my Hickmon, also spoke about her roots in Tampi.
“My fans in the swamp. There are so many people who probably don’t know who I am. I am. I call myself a swamp princess because I’m from Tampa in Florida,” she continued.
“There are so many cultures in Tampi. Whenever people think about Florida, they only think about Miami. But Tampa has so many talent. The markings go to the tamp.

She also thanked her label and producers who worked for The bite alligator never cures.
Doechii concluded her speech on an inspiring note: “I know there are some black girls outside. So many black women who look at me right now. And I want to tell you, you can do it. Everything is possible. Everything is possible.”
“Don’t let anyone project any stereotypes about you who tell you that you can’t be here, you’re too dark or not smart enough or too dramatic or you’re too loud,” she concluded. “You are exactly what you need to be to be right where you are, and I am a testimony.”

Doechii also earned nominations for the best new artist and the best rap performance (with “Nissan Alima”) for the 67th Grammy Awards. She performed “Soma” and “Migning Rijeka” later at the ceremony.
