Teddi Mellencamp Says ‘My Word for 2024 Is Going to Be Strength’ amid Melanoma Journey

Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave embraces a new sense of “power” for 2024.

The The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum posted a photo on Instagram on Wednesday showing her recent surgical scar from her No. 13 melanoma. In her caption, the TV personality shared how she is approaching 2024 without engaging in negative self-talk or self-doubt, all to rebuild her mental and physical strength.

She explained that she chooses a word to focus on each year and revealed that she “constantly joked” that her word for 2024 would be “getting by”. But after entering February, the 42-year-old shared that she refocused her year on the word “strength”.

“[Cope] was my mindset after all the ups and downs of nearly two years of battling melanoma,” Mellencamp wrote to Arroyave. “Every time I started to feel like ‘me’ again, BAM, another one reared its ugly head, another operation on the books, another round of fear that I wasn’t good enough for anyone—it all overshadowed what I wanted to really feel. to himself.”

“I convinced myself that this state of constant terrible anxiety was the new me and I just had to learn to ‘deal with it’.”

“But it’s true, EFF IT,” she declared.

She explained that she no longer focuses on negative thoughts or the question “What if I die?”

“Now I’m focusing on how I can be the strongest possible version of myself. I commit to being in the best mental and physical shape I can be,” the accountability coach wrote.

“This year my primary focus (along with my family) will be to become the STRONGEST me ever.”

“I started this Instagram 9 years ago to hold myself accountable for changing my life. Right now I’m doing it all over again,” concluded Mellencamp Arroyave.

Mellencamp Arroyave shared that she was diagnosed with melanoma 13 in September and has continued to be transparent about her journey on social media. She was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in October 2022.

In mid-January, she revealed to followers on Instagram that she was having “sad” days as she dealt with her health issues.

“Instagram can be an illusion,” she shared during an Instagram Q&A. “There are times when I am definitely positive and brave, but there are also times when I feel very sad, depressed and anxious. I just know that they come in waves and I have to kind of listen to myself and do what’s best for me.”
