Teen Wolf’s Alphas, Ranked

teen wolf, The popular supernatural series about werewolves ran for six seasons on MTV. Despite ending its run, it remains popular with a growing fanbase of Beacon Hill’s characters and mythology. One of the main aspects of the mythology is the hierarchy within the werewolf group, and at the top of this hierarchy is the Alpha.

In the show, Alpha is portrayed as both a hero and a villain, depending on the character. For example, Peter Hale starts out as a villain, but then becomes more ambiguous and sinister. Likewise, Deucalion appears to be a villain when he is alpha, but becomes an ally when his powers are stripped away. The same goes for Derek and even the twins. Scott, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be negatively affected by the power because he never really wanted it.

Updated by Svetlana Sterlin on March 21, 2021: Years after the story ended, Teen Wolf remains popular and widely missed. Fans are still hoping for a possible seventh season, or even a movie reboot. Looking back, the show has a large and evolving cast of characters, including a surprising number of alphas. Deucalion’s Alpha pack makes up a sizable portion of that, but a few other Alphas are also strong contenders for the top spot.

Ennis

Of all the alphas in this show, and especially in Deucalion’s alpha pack, Ennis is the least developed. Of the members of the wolf pack such as Deucalion, Carly and the twins, Ennis is the least interesting. Like the other alphas, he killed the former wolf pack druid herald to gain new powers.

In the show, he’s basically a savage who will do anything Deucalion asks him to do, like enter a hospital in disguise and kidnap Isaac. Ultimately, Ennis ended up being brutally murdered by Deucalion, as his usefulness had come to an end. As such, he is expendable and his time on the show is short-lived.

laura hale

Laura Hale's body tied to forest floor

Laura Hale was one of those characters that was talked about a lot but rarely made an appearance, as she died before the series even started. However, her death is closely tied to the plot of the first season and has been recurring throughout its run.

She is the eldest daughter of alpha Talia Hale, who eventually became the alpha of Hale’s pack after her family was killed in the Hale house fire. She and Derek had been on the run for several years in order to escape the Silver Family. She was eventually killed by Peter, who wanted to become Alpha in her place.

Kali

Carly bared her fangs and growled.

Kali is number two in the Alpha family. She is remembered for being one of the series’ female counterparts. She’s also most closely linked to another antagonist, Jennifer Blake, which makes her even more compelling.

Callie became an alpha because she was instructed to kill her friend and druid Jennifer (formerly Jennifer Bakari). However, Carly can’t bring herself to end Jennifer and let her die peacefully – but she doesn’t actually die, which is why she’s back seeking revenge. As a werewolf, Kali also has some pretty unique traits, like her fangs and claws (including her toenails).

Derek Hale

Derek was the main character of the show for several seasons. He is the son of Talia Hale, nephew of Peter Hale, and brother of Cora and Laura. Even though Derek started out as a beta werewolf, he eventually became an alpha werewolf by killing his uncle Peter Hale — sort of.

Derek is a fan-favorite character in the series and a loyal ally to Scott. He eventually had to give up his alpha status in order to cure his sister Cora of potentially fatal mistletoe poisoning. As an alpha, Derek is very single-minded, and power is sure to rush to his head. He becomes greedy and violent, not himself.

ethan and aiden

Although Ethan and Aiden are two people, they are technically the same alpha. Their bodies physically fuse into one giant monster, but its appearance is more terrifying than anything. Of all the characters introduced in Season 3B, the twins became the most popular. They and Deucalion are the only ones who return later in the show.

Aiden dated Lydia for a while, Ethan dated Danny, and later Jackson. Unfortunately, Aiden was killed by a ghost, which is why Ethan traveled to London, where he met Jackson. But before the twins broke away from Deucalion and became Scott’s allies, they were very dangerous enemies.

Mrs Finch

Mrs. Finch made an appearance in season five, but her alpha status wasn’t revealed until season six. She turns out to be a great help to the Wolves in season five when they learn about Chimera, though little is known about her werewolf identity.

In fact, she lived secretly in Beacon Hill for a long time. How she became a werewolf and then became an Alpha is unclear, but the characters learn that her pack is called the Primordials, so named because the members gave up their humanity and lived like animals. She is also a high school biology teacher and has a daughter.

peter hale

Peter Hale's Wild Hunt in Teen Wolf.

peter hale was the first main villain teen wolf. He bit Scott in the first episode, turning him into a werewolf. He also bites Lydia and activates her banshee powers. He is also the uncle of Laura, Derek and Cora, and the father of Maria.

Peter’s character on the show has received mixed reviews from fans, as he’s such a fun and versatile character. He can be charming, sarcastic, conniving, violent, and ruthless, sometimes all at the same time. Over the course of the show, he switches back and forth between villain and ally.

Deucalion

Fans may have mixed feelings about Deucalion, but when he was first introduced, he was a very compelling villain. Despite his blindness, Deucalion was a skilled alpha – and an alpha of the alpha family – which made him formidable.

His reason for returning to Beacon Hill was to recruit Derek to his pack and unlock Scott McCall’s true alpha potential so he could gather a rare new addition to his pack. After being defeated by Scott, he later returned to the show as an anti-hero.

Satomi Ito

Satomi Ito looks worried

Satomi is a respected member of the supernatural community, and quite possibly one of the oldest. She appears in seasons 3, 4, and 6 and has a wealth of knowledge and wisdom behind her. She’s been through a lot in her centuries-long existence, including her struggles as a werewolf during wartime.

Satomi is a true leader who finds a way to cope even in the worst situations. She lost the love of her life in the war, which ties into Nodune’s storyline, and is close to Talia Hale. Satomi adopted some lost children and orphans, including Lolilee and Brett. She always sought to be a caregiver rather than a dominant one.

Thalia Hale

Talia Hale smiles

Thalia is arguably the most powerful alpha of the Hale family. She is the mother of Laura, Derek and Cora, and has the rare ability to transform into a wolf. It was a gift from her to her son Derek.

Before her death in the Hale house fire, Thalia was deeply respected by members of the supernatural community. Thalia has also served as a consultant for the Alpha Group. Even though she died before the series began, her presence, like Laura’s, was felt throughout due to her strength and legacy.

Scott McCall

Scott McCall appears in wolf form in Teen Wolf

Scott McCall is teen wolf. The story is about him from the beginning. He was bitten by Peter Hale and had to learn how to be a werewolf and lead a pack before becoming Alpha. Eventually, he was promoted to Alpha, and then became a true Alpha – a rare kind of Alpha, as Scott didn’t have to kill anyone to advance.

He is able to become Alpha through his own will and due to the strength of his virtue and character. This makes him a target for other werewolves jealous of his power, but Scott always comes out on top with the help of the pack.
