The fire that claimed the lives of three girls in the Adele dance group occurred at Camp Victoria. While adults panicked and firefighters searched for water, teenagers rescued sleepy children from burning wooden buildings.
Maxim Tikhonchuk, 13, has saved 15 children, if not more – no time. The boy was in the building next door, and his reaction speed is something many adults should learn from. Deputy wrote about this boy on Facebook.
“Maxim Tikhonchuk, 13 years old. The guy who got the kids out of five rooms at Camp Victoria. That’s the lives of 15 kids!!!!
The children are sleeping and there is no doubt. He just arrived at school on Monday, with burning hands. A humble, strong, kind man whose patients and the county can be proud of!!!”
The Odesa Regional Police opened criminal proceedings for the fire according to the article about the violation of fire safety standards.
By law, two children must be hospitalized.
Two camp officials are suspected under the provisions of the Ukrainian Penal Code for “violating the fire protection requirements established by law, resulting in the death of people.”
The boy was awarded a medal for saving his life.
