Sources close to HAL said a defense contract could be signed between India and the Latin American country for 15 HAL Tejas fighter jets in the coming days. The same was reported by Zee Business. Previously, the Latin American country had shown interest in the indigenously built Indian Tejas aircraft developed under the Make in India campaign for its Air Force. When the two countries discussed increasing their defense and trade, a joint press release was issued after the Joint Commission meeting.

The JCM announced: “EAM, recognizing Argentina’s interest in TEJAS Made in India fighter jets for the Argentine Air Force, highlighted the importance of the proposal to improve the strategic quotient of bilateral relations.” For the uninitiated, a joint commission meeting was held between the Foreign Minister of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar, and the Foreign Minister of Argentina, Santiago Cafiero.
