Tesla Model 3 Performance and BMW i4 M50 are more powerful than most electric cars, but side-by-side – which wins? While Tesla has established itself as an all-electric brand, BMW’s motorsport (M) division has delighted fans with its historic performance car line with its aggressive styling and High speed enthusiast. Both models are great for drivers who need speed and power.
The Tesla Model 3, which starts at $53,990, can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric cars. The sedan achieves this with a dual-engine AWD system. It also has 450 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque. The BMW i4 M50 has an MSRP of $68,700 and offers 536 horsepower, 586 pound-feet of torque and a 0-100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds. Based on these specs, the Model 3 is slightly faster than the M50, but the Model 3 has a higher power output.
Tesla vs.BMW: range and performance
Besides the speed of electric cars, how good are they in terms of range efficiency? Tesla claims the Model 3 Performance can travel up to 315 miles on a single charge. In addition, this model is recommended for those who need to travel long distances in extreme temperature conditions. Meanwhile, the M50 should run well for 270 miles before needing to be recharged. It should be noted that certain driving habits and external factors can deplete an electric vehicle’s range faster, so these numbers are estimates only.
While the Model 3 can be driven on city roads, Tesla’s Track Mode allows drivers to get the most out of their electric cars on the street. Tesla developed Track Mode to optimize key EV components such as stability braking, traction control, and cooling. The i4 M50 promises impressive agility and handling through its variable sport steering and adaptive M suspension. In addition, drivers will be able to take advantage of more responsive braking thanks to the powerful M Sport braking system, which BMW claims works well with the 19-inch M two-tone wheels.
When it comes to charging, it’s hard to beat Tesla’s Super Charge network, mainly due to its wide coverage and speed. At a Supercharger, the Model 3 can add 175 miles in 15 minutes. The BMW also has impressive fast charging, which can go 97 miles in 10 minutes with a DC fast charger. While both models are high-performance electric vehicles, the Model 3 is faster, charges faster, and qualifies for a $7,500 EV tax credit.
