Texas Police Officers Reunite with Child They Saved Following Near-Fatal Pool Drowning

Police officers in Fort Worth, Texas, had a sweet reunion with the toddler they saved from drowning earlier this month — and the boy was all smiles as he watched his heroes.

On May 1, Officer Davachi and Sergeant Brady of the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) came to the rescue of a two-year-old boy named Rowdy who had nearly drowned in the pool. When officers arrived at the scene, the boy’s mother was performing CPR. Officers “immediately took over chest compressions while Sergeant Brady assisted with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation,” the FWPD said in a statement.

After the Fort Worth Fire Department arrived a short time later and transported the boy to a local hospital, his prognosis was described “as dire, with little expectation that he would survive the night,” according to the release.

Miraculously, a week later, on May 8, FWPD received word that despite earlier complications, little Rowdy had made a full recovery from the accident.

After he was officially released from the hospital, “Officer Davachi, along with the entire second shift team that responded to the first call, visited Rowdy and his family,” according to the statement.

Posting on Facebook, officers shared photos of little Rowdy posing with the teddy bears he was given, as well as some snaps of the party as he posed in the police car.

Rowdy’s siblings were also given teddy bears and had to explore police vehicles.
