That '90s Show Gives Update on Eric, Hinting That Topher Grace May Not Return Anytime Soon

It looks like Topher Grace won’t be returning to the Formans’ basement anytime soon.

Grace, who played Eric Forman in That 70s showmade his own That show from the 90s debuts in the January 2023 premiere, but his character is unlikely to return.

In the series premiere, Eric left his daughter Leia (Callie Haverda) at his parents Red and Kitty’s house in Point Place, Wisconsin for her summer vacation in 1996. At the time, Eric was employed as an adjunct professor in Chicago, where he taught a course about religion Star Wars. Donna (Laura Prepron) reveals to her and Eric’s daughter that he has been offered a job that will change his life.

Given Donna’s plans to travel the country and see Eric, it seems unlikely that Grace, 46, will appear again in the new series.

Grace joined original cast members Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher in the show’s premiere episode, but the three have yet to return to the Forman residence. In addition, Wilmer Valderrama, who reprized Fez in the first season, has also yet to return to the series.

Valderrama, 44, told PEOPLE exclusively in June that he doesn’t have enough time in his busy schedule to return That show from the 90s. “We are looking for 20 episodes per season [on NCIS]but at the same time, these are children’s jobs,” he added, speaking of Fr That show from the 90s newcomers.

Meanwhile, in an April interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kunis, 41, confirmed that she and Kutcher are not returning to the series.
