There are a lot of things to be excited about in the upcoming mainline Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Aside from its open world environment and adorable starters, there’s also a slew of brand new normal-type Pokémon that will be added to the official Pokédex.
Normal Pokémon are often overlooked as some gamers consider them weak and uninteresting. However, the users on Ranker know that some of the most memorable and strongest Pokémon belong to this type. They’ve cast their vote and chosen the best normal-type Pokémons in the game.
Togekiss
The final form of the adorable Pokémon Togepi is the dual-type normal/flying Pokémon Togekiss. The Pokémon is characterized by its smooth egg-shaped body and triangular wings. According to Pokémon lore, Togekiss are known to be good-luck charms. However, seeing a Togekiss in the wild is extremely rare, as they are never found in areas that have conflict and troubles.
In the series, Dawn was given a Togekiss by Princess Salvia. Togekiss is a highly-desired Pokémon in the games due to its cute appearance and powerful coverage moves.
Staraptor
Staraptors are often included in the roster of gamers who play the fourth-generation games, Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. Its basic form, Starly can be found early on in the games and can be easily captured with a normal Pokéball.
Staraptor evolves from Staravia after the latter reaches level 34. Its distinct characteristics are its yellow beak, white patch on the forehead, and small eyes. It’s also known for its large and powerful wings that can easily pull off high-damage moves like Aerial Ace and Brave Bird.
Ursaring
Introduced in Generation 2, Ursaring is a bipedal bear-like Pokémon. Ursaring is a great normal-type Pokémon to nurture early on in the games as it can overcome strong enemies using moves such as Thrash, Hammer Arm, and Slash.
According to the game, trainers will know if they’re near an Ursaring’s territory if they see huge claw marks carved into a tree. Pokémon Legends: Arceus introduces a new Ursaring evolution in the form of Ursaluna. However, some players feel underwhelmed with Ursaluna and feel that its design was rushed.
Tauros
Resembling a bull, Tauros is a Pokémon that’s part of the first generation. While it doesn’t evolve from or into another Pokémon, fans of the franchise consider Tauros to be the male counterpart of the cow-inspired Pokémon Miltank.
Tauros are known to be ferocious and rowdy. Leveling up a Tauros can prove to be a fruitful move for trainers as this Pokémon learns powerful moves like Giga Impact, Thrash, and Double Edge. Despite having good moves and stats, Tauros is still fairly underrated as it is a normal-type Pokémon.
Pidgeot
There’s a good reason why Pidgeot is considered by many fans as one of the coolest regional birds in Pokémon. Aside from being one of the original 150 Pokémon from Generation 1, Pidgeot also has a striking plumage of orange, brown, and red feathers.
The normal/flying-type Pokémon is also capable of Mega Evolution. After this process, it gains magenta eyes, a long magenta plume, and bigger wings. Pidgeto can learn a variety of strong TMs including Aerial Ace, Giga Impact, Fly, Hyper Beam, and Pluck.
Ditto
Pokémon trainers who want to breed their top Pokémon will need a Ditto. The normal-type Pokemon resembles a pink squiggly blob and can transform into an exact replica of any Pokémon, as well as copy its form and abilities.
In the game, Dittos are essential for Pokémon breeders as they can breed with any other Pokémon and produce eggs of the other Pokémon’s species. However, players need to make sure that the Ditto they’ll use has strong values in order to produce powerful offspring.
Kangaskhan
Kangaskhan is a kangaroo-esque Pokémon from Generation 1. It is one of the few female-only Pokémon species and is often seen with a baby Kangaskhan in its pouch.
Kangaskhan is one of the strongest normal-type Pokémon. It can inflict a variety of powerful moves on opponents, such as the fighting-move Reversal, dragon-type move Outrage, and normal-type attack Last Resort. However, it can be difficult to capture a Kangaskhan, especially in Pokémon Fire Red and Pokémon Leaf Green, as it is only available in the Kanto Region’s safari zone.
Arceus
The legendary star of one of the best games in the Pokémon series, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, is surprisingly a normal-type. The mythical Pokémon is credited for creating the Sinnoh and Ransei region, as well as the creation trio, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, and lake guardians Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf.
It is possible for trainers to capture the mythical Pokémon, although attempting to do so is an extremely tedious task. To access the final mission in Pokémon Legends: Arceus and obtain the titular Pokémon, players need to capture all of the 237 Hisui Pokémon and acquire the Azure Flute.
Eevee

Some of Snorlax’s most notable moves are Hammer Arm, Giga Impact, and Belch. In addition, Snorlax is also the only Pokémon capable of learning the devastating normal-type Z-Move Pulverizing Pancake.
