The Ashley Madison Affair, Hulu’s docu-series, will finally be released on July 7, 2023. Wall to Wall Media and ABC News Studios collaborated to develop this documentary based on an exciting exposé that thoroughly examines the events that led to the Ashley Madison server leak.
According to the IMDb synopsis for The Ashley Madison Affair:
“Ashley Madison was a popular site that attracted millions of potential adulterers from around the world.” However, when staff at the Toronto headquarters logged on to their computers one morning in July 2015, a warning appeared: “Turn off Ashley Madison immediately (or) we will publish all customer data, profiles, sexual fantasies… real names and addresses . “

“As the owners of Ashley Madison prepared to launch the company in a billion dollar IPO, they refused to comply with the demands of the “Impact Team”. Thirty days later, the Impact Team carried out their threats, releasing approximately 10 terabytes of user information onto the dark web, with dire implications for those who logged in to the site, ranging from suicide to extortion to public humiliation.”
The series was created by Beth Hoppe of ABC News Studios and Fred Hepburn and Jeremy Dear of Wall to Wall Media. The Hulu series attempts to shed light on the most high-profile data breach and its aftermath to date. As of February 2019, the site was used by 60 million people from 53 countries.
The Ashley Madison scandal – exposing the scandal
The 2015 Ashley Madison data breach sent shockwaves around the world, exposing the personal information of millions of users around the world. The material disclosed was sensitive in a way that could, and ultimately did, destroy people’s lives as the Ashley Madison website allowed users to have extramarital affairs.
The website of the agency Ashley Madison was founded in Canada in 2002, and its services were advertised with the phrase,
“Life is short. Have a relationship.”
The data breach exposed personal information about users, such as e-mails, names, home addresses, fetishes and financial information. The problem arose when it was discovered that the user base had a large number of fake accounts that were set up as fraud, with incorrect email addresses or with malicious intent. A few customers also paid the $19 price to remove their accounts. Unfortunately, their data was also among the stolen data. Needless to say, Hulu is ready to dive deep into the Ashley Madison saga, providing an up-close and personal look at the controversy and its aftermath.
