The Emperor’s visit disrupts everything, as Emery is tasked with conducting routine blood tests at Narase’s location – she runs Omega’s sample through the machine. To her surprise, she discovered that Omegas are compatible with midi-chlorians.

This makes Omega the key to Palpatine’s cloning experiments. Somehow, the Kaminoans managed to create a clone whose body did not reject the Midi parasite. Omega is no ordinary clone. She was always believed to be a mutant, although why was never explained. It now appears that the Kaminoans were secretly trying to create Force-sensitive mutant clones even before the Dark Ages, and Omega was the result.

The Empire had previously only been interested in Omega because Dr. Hemlock believed she was necessary to ensure Narathe’s obedience. This blood test changes everything, as Hemlock wants to figure out how to reverse engineer Omega. If he could do that, he could eventually create Force-sensitive clones. This would be a huge improvement for Palpatine, as he would be able to transfer his dark essence into clones. Theoretically, the Emperor can even increase the clone’s M number, making him even more powerful than before after resurrecting from the dead.

Are Omega and Crosshair actually force sensitive?

Narasel knew full well that Omega’s clones would not reject the protozoan Midi. There is only one reason why she knows this: if the Omega was designed for this purpose and has been processed. The exact relationship between midi-chlorians and the Force is a hotly debated topic in the fandom. Generally speaking, the higher the Prime Number, the easier it is for a creature to tap into the Force. Meanwhile, the situation with Crosshair is much more complicated. His mutation must have made him theoretically adaptable to midi-chlorians – otherwise Emery would never have gotten to the next stage of injecting them into his body. However, Crosshair’s body seemed to reject the Primarch Midi, meaning his experiment failed. The interesting question is whether he could still somehow learn to harness the Force, based on the Primarch Midi now in his blood. It will certainly be exciting to discover this.

The Bad Batch Season 3 ties every Star Wars era together

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season three has become an important part of the saga, as it serves as the connective tissue between every other era. The animated TV show is set during the dark days of the Empire’s rule, but it confirms that – within just a few years of the Empire’s formation – Palpatine was already conducting cloning experiments. The Emperor apparently never intended to pass his empire on to his apprentices, and in fact he was actually subtly referring to Vader when he claimed that some of his allies would consider these experiments an abomination. The Sith considered this combination of science and sorcery heretical.
