The beautiful little hummingbird – the world’s smallest bird

They are hummingbirds that live along the west coast of the United States, including Alaska in the summer. The hummingbird is slightly smaller, not red, and lives in Cuba.

This gentle bird is one of the smallest in nature and a true evolutionary miracle. It is even the size of a bee, it is only 5-6 cm long and weighs less than 2 g.

Their beautiful iridescent plumage, like all hummingbirds, distinguishes them from bees. When they fly, they are like a flying diamond. They are truly breathtaking, and if you get a chance to see them, don’t miss it.

During the estrus season starting in March, the male has a green body with a bright red neck. Females are blue with black underparts and black neck. Males glow bright pink/red from head to throat, and the overall aerial and singing performances are intended to attract their females.

They lay eggs the size of a coffee bean, about a centimeter long! However, because of the shiny plumage, the mother will not allow the father to come near the eggs because predators will notice this plumage.

Bee hummingbirds, like other hummingbirds, feed mainly on nectar, but sometimes on insects and spiders.

Hummingbirds are said to visit around 1,500 flowers a day, benefiting the ecosystem by encouraging plant reproduction. However, they do not migrate from their native Cuba and are content with subtropical temperatures.

The hummingbird species is currently listed as Vulnerable, which means its population is declining. What a pity for this lovely bird; We work together to protect the environment for these wonderful creatures!
