The Buccaneers: 5 Young American Women Embark on Hidden Affairs in London — Watch the Trailer!

Five American teenagers clash with London’s high society in the new trailer for Buccaneers.

Apple TV+ released a teaser for the period drama series on Wednesday, and it opens with the five friends played by Kristine Frøseth, Alisha Boe, Josie Totah, Aubri Ibrag and Imogen Waterhouse toasting their lives to the tune of Olivia Rodrigo’s “All-American Kuja.”

The teenagers have been invited to the UK capital for their debutante ball – and while they seem ecstatic, their British household looks much less so. “I’m pretty sure they’re going to be terrible,” Lady Brightlingsea (Fenella Woolgar) says in the trailer.

Nan (Frøseth) meets a handsome stranger named Guy Thwarte (Mathew Broome). “Imagine a whirlwind romance with a handsome English lord,” Nan says as the next few shots show the two making out in the gardens and making out in a dimly lit room.

But he is not the only one whose eye caught her eye in the trailer, because Theo (Guy Remmers) also fell in love immediately. The pair share a few kisses in the entry closet and on the beach, forming a bond after it is revealed that he is the duke.

However, things are not a fairy tale as Nan realizes that Theo and Guy are old friends. Multiple scenes intertwine to show Nan sharing intimate moments with both men interspersed with girls dancing and having fun.

“Girls are taught that it’s a tragedy if the story isn’t about love,” says Nan.

Lizzy (Ibrag) answers: “We have us.” And what if this is our love story?”

The show — inspired by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel of the same name — follows this “fun-loving group” of young American girls as they explore the “tight-knit London season of the 1870s” in order to “secure husbands.” and titles.” In doing so, they inadvertently start “an Anglo-American culture clash as the land of stiff upper lip is infiltrated with a refreshing irreverence of centuries of tradition,” according to the synopsis for the eight-episode series.

Buccaneers is being promoted as a “music-driven series” that “brings together the English aristocracy of the 1870s with a modern soundtrack” that includes songs by modern artists such as Taylor Swift, Boygenius, Maggie Rogers and original songs by Gracie Abrams, Folick, Lucius, Alison Mosshart and more.

Christina Hendricks, Mia Threapleton, Josh Dylan and Barney Fishwick also star. The series is helmed by an all-female creative team with Katherine Jakeways writing, Susanna White directing and Beth Willis executive producing alongside Jakeways and White.
