The Crown’s Dominic West Shares Why He and Prince Harry Stopped Talking: ‘I Said Too Much’

Prince Harry and Dominic West are no longer on speaking terms despite embarking on an unforgettable trip together.

Prince Harry and Crown The actor and actor were both part of the 2013 Antarctic Race through the Walking with the Wounded charity, which supports ex-servicemen in their transition to civilian life. However, West discovered in an interview with Times Radio that they are no longer in touch and it has nothing to do with him playing the future King Charles in the Netflix drama.

Host Kate McCann asked West if he had spoken to Prince Harry about playing his father in light of their expedition together.

“Well, that was over 10 years ago, I think it was,” West said.

“But you still have his number, surely?” the host pressed.

“No, we kind of, um…no. I said too much at the press conference, so we didn’t talk after that,” West explained. “I think they asked me what we did, what we did to celebrate when we got there and I probably said a little too much.”

Back in 2014, West discovered that Prince Harry had a talent for making toilets while trekking.

“They had a flagpole and a roll holder that were surrounded by blocks of snow,” Wire said the star. “It must have taken him 45 minutes to create each one.”

Explaining how Harry worked, West said the prince would dig a hole in a chosen spot complete with “a platform to crouch on”. He built these incredibly intricate. He did A level art [in high school] – you can say it has an artistic touch.”

The actor added: “I’d be sitting there looking at the beautiful view and thinking, ‘This is a royal flush!’ ”

West also revealed that Harry told “indecent, eye-watering jokes.” For a non-soldier like me, it was quite shocking.”

Ahead of the Antarctic trip, West met Queen Elizabeth at a reception at Buckingham Palace, which was also attended by Prince Harry.

The trip took place years before West took on the role of Prince Charles Crown. Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE recently, he shared how his role on the Netflix hit changed his perception of the royal family.

“I guess someone’s perception is so dictated by what you read in the media and what you see in their public persona that you try to find out what’s going on privately and what’s going on in their head and what’s going on in their private conversations,” West said. “Peter [Morgan] he imagines them so brilliantly and thoroughly bases them very firmly on all the facts we have, that I suppose I came to emphasize much more, certainly, with Charles and feel sympathy for him.”
