Jab’s weight loss is taking the world with a storm, with an incredible half a million of us who use them now.
Injections were reportedly helped by celebrities, including the sun columnist Jeremy Clarky, Sharon Osbourne, Elon Musk and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

But worrying data discovered a huge increase in the number of people hospitalized after taking medication.
Almost 400 users have ended in A&E since the drugs were introduced in 2019. There was a sudden increase at the end of last year, with 118 cases only in October and November.
The side effects reported by the regulatory agency of medicines and health products also increased by 19 percent and included nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, seizures and pancreatitis, which can be fatal.
A small percentage of patients fell into pieces after entering a hypoglycemic shock.
While more than 500,000 uses “lean stings”, it is thought that only five percent are prescribed and others buy them online.
This has encouraged the restriction on their sale, and now they are mandatory video or face -to -face chat.
The General Pharmaceutical Council has said that too many people are pretending to be obese to get stitches for weight loss.
So these injections really ask medicines?
To help you separate the fact from fiction, we asked Dr. Helen Wall, resident GP on BBC Breakfast and older partner at Bolton Health Center, and Dr. Aishah Iqbal, Mind Over Diets Weight Loss Coach, to answer to key questions about “Miracle” Jabs.
What kinds are there?
Whether it’s Wegovy, Mounjaro or Saxenda, all the killers have one common-hormone called Glucagon similar to the peptide 1 or GLP-1.

“Wegovy is a semaglutide brand, a drug that is initially used for type 2 diabetes, but is now used to manage weight,” Dr. Iqbal for Sunday on Sunday Health.
“Delays the emptying of the stomach, creating suppression of appetite, making you feel more full. Oskempic is another goods brands for semaglutide. Although he is licensed for weight loss in the United States, it is strictly intended to be prescribed to control diabetes in the UK.
“Mounjaro acts the same way, but uses thyrzepatide, while the active ingredient is Saxnda Liraglutide.”
The results of the experiment showed that Wegovy can lead to a loss of weight of 15 percent and Mounjaro to 23 percent.

Where can I get them?
These drugs are available on NHS, but only in limited cases, such as patient with type 2 diabetes.
“Otherwise you have to go through a specialist weight loss service and you will need to fill in certain criteria to-Imati BMI over 35 or BMI over 30 and other health conditions such as heart disease or type 2 diabetes,” says Dr. Iqbal.
“It’s a tight process, which makes people look for somewhere else.”
What are the benefits?
Some scientists welcomed stings as “wonderful.” And they can change for life for people who have obese, have serious health problems or move towards bariatric surgery.
“Short -term benefits include improved self -esteem, confidence and mental health,” says Dr. Wall. “People often think they can run better after their children, and joint questions and back pain improve.
Patients also significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, heart attack and cancer associated with obesity, such as gut and uterus. “
Do the results last?
In short, no. In many cases, people gain weight within 12 months of stopping medication, showing tests.
“Many people with obesity have other questions and medicines. They have to change their lifestyle and deal with their psychological food relationships, “says Dr. Wall.
Any side effects?
Nausea, vomiting, prison and abdominal pain are most often reported side effects.
In the trials, three quarters of patients gave 2.4 mg weekly doses of semaglutides experienced gastrointestinal discomfort.
“For some people, it only takes a few weeks and others don’t get symptoms at all,” says Dr. Wall.
“The more rare but more serious consequences include pancreatitis, which can lead to hospitalization and, in the worst case, death.”
Research by the Eye and Ear Massachusetts Hospital has discovered a connection between semaglutides and eyes, which can cause blindness.
Doctors have discovered that people with type 2 diabetes are four times more likely to be diagnosed with non-artheritic anterior ischemic optical neuropathy (Naion), and those who had excess weight or obese were seven times more likely develop.
A separate study of Washington University showed that patients taking skinny stabs had an increased risk of 19 diseases, including arthritis and bowel damage and kidneys.
The risk of pancreatitis-drunk-threatening pancreatic life is twisted.
Anecdotes some users complained about decaying skin and sinking eyes, called the “ground face” on social networks, while others reported a serious hair loss.
The packaging also mentions the problems of gallbladder, kidney failure and depression as potential side effects.
Dr. Wall adds, “The drugs are still relatively new and more things can come out as much as possible. Only time will say.”
What if I get side effects?
If you can tolerate them, be patient.
“Give him time and often these symptoms improve,” says Dr. Wall. “But if you have severe pain or significant vomiting, seek medical advice as these drugs may have serious consequences.”
Is it safe to buy online?
Many internet pharmacies sell weight loss stabs.
“If they are qualified to prescribe, that’s fine,” says Dr. Wall.
“The concern is that many companies do not make any attention.
“Currently, all you have to do is fill the internet pattern with your weight and BMI. But people can invest what they want and no one checks.
“Medications are also popular in the black market, and some people do not get a cure they think they are. Never buy them from a cosmetic salon.”
Are they good for short -term repair?
“If you are normal weight or even a little overweight, remember that the risks are very real,” says Dr. Wall.
“These are serious drugs. It may sound like a quick repair, but you won’t keep a weight loss if you don’t look at the reasons you’ve reached this point.
“This is definitely not something you should take for aesthetic reasons or before rest.”
I still want to try them out
Talk to the GP and ask if there is a specialist weight governing service in your area.
“Will you qualify depending on where you live,” says Dr. Wall.
“If you do, you will get full package-no injections, but also emotional support and lifestyles and food tips, which is crucial to retaining weight in the long run.
“If you don’t qualify, you might want to approach Jabi privately.
“I am not against it because the NHS does not necessarily satisfy everything. However, select a service provider who is registered and fully qualified, such as a pharmacist, a private doctor of general practice or weight loss clinic.
“Don’t just introduce your BMI to a Facebook search and the next day is delivered to syringe. That’s not safe.”
