News of the Eagles’ Vegas residency comes nearly a year after the band announced their latest tour, The Long Goodbye. “Our long journey has lasted much longer than any of us ever dreamed. But everything has its time and it’s time to come full circle,” shared the band in an emotional statement after 50+ years of touring, countless chart-topping singles and 150 million albums sold worldwide.

“The Eagles have had an amazing 52-year odyssey, performing to people around the world; keeping the music alive despite tragic losses, upheavals and setbacks of many kinds,” they added, also thanking their management team, road crew and supporting musicians.

Their tour began with 13 initial dates before the rock band — formed in the fall of 1971 — extended it with two more shows in Los Angeles in 2024 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of their epic six-show residency at the Kia Forum.

The tour announcement came just weeks before Eagles founder and bassist Randy Meisner died of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He was 77 years old.

“Randy was an integral part of the Eagles and instrumental in the band’s early success,” the group said in a brief statement following the musician’s death. “His vocal range was stunning, evident in his signature ballad ‘Take It to the Limit’.”

During the Eagles’ prime, the band released seven studio albums, plus a self-titled greatest hits compilation To the limit: The Essential Collectionwhich was released in January 2024. Reflecting on the group’s legacy and discography — which fans will soon hear from Vegas’ Sphere — earlier this year, Henley said Louder“The songs took on a life of their own.”

“We just nurture them,” he continued. “We’re just a vehicle to introduce these songs to people. We understood what these songs mean to people and how much they are a part of their lives. You could call it nostalgia, and there is nothing terrible about it, especially in times like these, when everything is so reckless and crazy. I think it gives people two and a half hours of relief from the crazy, chaotic world outside. Especially in America.”
