Abby
Born in Yorkshire, Abbi honed her baking skills as a teenager, coming up with lots of delicious recipes with her mum. A fan of the Victorian era and the traditional cakes of the time, including steamed puddings and fruitcakes. As a lover of nature, you will find Abbi looking for seasonal foods and growing her own vegetables. Combining comfort and familiarity with a nod to nature, Abba’s cakes have a fairytale feel, and we can’t wait to see what she creates this season!

Amos
A fan of film and theater, Amos describes his baking style as “traditional with a modern twist.” During his childhood in Nottingham, Amos watched in awe as his mum worked on the most beautiful cakes and has since followed in her footsteps. When it comes to creating new recipes, Amos isn’t afraid to explore different flavor profiles, so we think he could be a wild card this season and create something completely new and unexpected.

Cristy
As a caring mom of four, Cristy spent a lot of time baking birthday cakes and other delicious recipes. Describing her style as “enchanted and beautiful,” Cristy also draws flavor inspiration from her own Israeli heritage and her husband’s Jamaican roots. The GBBO website credits Cristy as a “hand with embellishments” so we’ll be looking to her for the prettiest designs.

Day
Dan’s love for cooking was sparked by his travels to South America in 2007. Along with a penchant for pies and puddings, Dan is also a shortbread pro, thanks to some top tips from his mother-in-law. A perfectionist in everything he does, Dan happily takes on the most difficult recipes in every single cookbook he owns, so it sounds like he’ll deliver some stunning cakes.

Days
A self-proclaimed messy baker, Dana is all about experimentation. After discovering her passion for baking at the age of 16, Dana soon became her family’s pastry chef for celebrations. With a “rustic and homey” style that’s always pleasing to the eye, Dana likes a semi-bare cake with neat lines, pretty borders and minimalist decorations, but she also likes to add a twist or two, usually by incorporating the familiar spices associated with her Native American heritage.

A chemist by trade, Josh is known for his precision and enthusiasm for experimentation. When it comes to inspiration, Josh looks to old baking books, which he uses to create classic recipes with a contemporary twist. Keith
Keith started baking from a young age, making apple pies, fairy cakes and traditional dishes from his mum’s home in Malta. Eager to take on a challenge, complex cakes are part of Keith’s repertoire, and recently he was looking through baking books from the early 1970s to try recipes that were “above” him. Among his specialties, Keith especially likes baking bread, and his partner Sue and adorable poodle Masie are regularly awakened by the heavenly smell of freshly baked bread.

Matty learned the tricks of the trade from online pastry videos and is now his family’s designated baker. A fan of more traditional flavors, Matty likes to incorporate chocolate, citrus and nuts into his recipes, which he also describes as “rustic but neat.” After his time in the tent, Matty has another big challenge as he prepares to make his own wedding cake, commissioned by his fiancee Lara.

Nicky’s fondest memories happened at her grandmother’s kitchen table, where she rolled out cookies and decorated cakes. Although pastries are her forte, Nicky is also a skilled baker and regularly prepares different types of bread and birthday cakes for her niece and grandchildren. “Like a pair of cozy old slippers; small traditional pastries that evoke fond memories,” is how Nicky describes her baking style.

Rowan
Scones, pork pies, shortbread and traditional jam cakes are among Rowan’s earliest memories of baking. An English Literature student, Rowan’s friends at university are constantly impressed by his culinary skills, and he recently baked the most epic 21st birthday cake – a three-story, 12-layer masterpiece. “Go big, or go home”, is the motto of this bakery, so we hope for a spectacle!

Saku
Born in Sri Lanka, Saku likes to use the traditional flavors of her heritage, including curry spices, in her savory cakes. However, when it comes to sweeter recipes, cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg are among her favorite flavors. As a self-taught baker, Saku’s children often discover lots of homemade treats in their lunch boxes, which she copied from snacks she saw in the supermarket.
