The Marvels released at the end of a months-long Screen Actors Guild strike that prevented the film’s stars from speaking publicly about the film until 12:01 a.m. Thursday, when the strike officially ended.

The film’s release also comes amid ongoing uncertainty over the direction of the franchise and reports that Marvel Studios may recast or move away from Jonathan Majors as the main villain for upcoming titles in a range of recent multiverse-themed films and television series.
