The Office Star Rainn Wilson’s House ‘Severely Damaged’ in Mountain Fire: ‘I Can Barely Process It’

Rainn Wilson thinks little after losing a large part of his home in a mountain fire.

The actor and podcast host, 58, first announced that his and wife Holiday Reinhorn’s California home “almost burned down” in the wildfires that ripped through Ventura County last month in an Instagram post on Nov. 11.

Wilson, best known for his role as Dwight Schrute Officehe maintained a positive attitude during the video, expressing gratitude that he and Reinhorn’s home were not completely destroyed like many others during the fire.

In Wilson’s own words, their residence was “very badly damaged, but we got to keep our home,” unlike some of their close neighbors.

He also gave a “big salute” to Reinhorn, who helped evacuate their pigs and other animals — the couple have two pigs, Amy and Snorty, in their barn — “at the last minute” as embers “flew over the hill.”

In the caption, Wilson added that the couple were “some of the luckiest people in Ventura County.”

On Friday, December 13, more than a month after the fire, the actor shared the video with his manager Boom of the soul podcast account walking through some of the rubble the fire left behind — and used it to collect some inspirational words.

“Well, this is not something I ever thought I’d be doing,” he began in the clip. “Walking through the remains of my bedroom and my closet and my bathroom and there’s my toilet. My charred toilet.”

As he continued to walk through the house, showing his followers the state of his office and other rooms after the devastating fire, Wilson said, “There’s some kind of valuable lesson here. I’m not sure what it is—the kind of death and fire that teaches you a lesson about the transience of life and the preciousness of what we have.”

“I hope you all stay grateful for what you have today,” he told his friends Boom of the soul followers before asking them what lessons they thought he was “getting through” as a result of the house fire.

“It’s all a bit too much for me,” he explained, adding that he’s “so overwhelmed that my brain just shuts down — I can barely process it.”

The actor described his video as positive, adding that he was “grateful” that most of the couple’s California home was intact despite the fire.

“Among the ashes is sometimes … the place where we think best about what truly has value in our lives,” he added in the caption.
