The repair shop aired a special episode dedicated to the Windrush generation on Wednesday night, and the restoration of watch house Steve Fletcher’s precious watch moved viewers.
In this episode, experts fix four entries celebrating the Windrush generation’s contribution to the UK.
Hosts Jay Blades and Steve welcome siblings Dorcas and Stephen to the stables, bringing with them the precious watch of their parents, Hermann and Keturah, who had moved from Antigua to England in hopes of a start. a new life.

Hermann and Keturah faced “a lot of trouble” when they arrived in Birmingham and found that they were not accepted by the church communities in England, making Hermann the church leader.

The clock was one of the first items they tried to furnish the single room they lived in at the time. In the end, they managed to buy a home of their own, and the watch took its proud place on the mantle, as a reminder that they had ‘come’ and set up a life for themselves.
Steve quickly set to work on a watch that hadn’t sounded in over 25 years, and when the brothers and sisters returned, they were amazed at the change. Check out the big reveal in the video below.

The episode also saw electrical engineering expert Mark Stuckey begin work on a radiograph brought in by political activist Patrick Vernon, who led a successful campaign to take the 22nd. June every year is Windy Day. The X-ray photo belonged to his late friend Eddie Noble, a World War II veteran from Jamaica who had settled in the UK after serving in the RAF.

Elsewhere, bookbinder Chris Shaw transformed an 80-year-old British passport first issued in Jamaica in 1948. The precious item Beverley brought to the warehouse was a treasured memento of her father, Alfans legacy.
Saddle maker Suzie Fletcher met Keithly at the bar, who arrived with a suitcase owned by his mother, Locita, who had arrived in the UK from the island of Nevis in 1956 with the so-called flu suitcase.
