The Rookie’s Nathan Fillion reunited with his co-stars Eric Winter, Melissa O’Neill, Mekia Cox and Shawn Ashmore on Thursday as they teamed up at the SAG-AFTRA assembly lines. After posing for selfies together, Melissa, who plays police officer Lucy Chen, shared a few photos from the cast reunion on Instagram, which Nathan immediately reshared.

With a completely different look in the footage, fans were quick to spot Nathan’s impressive moustache. It’s not clear if the actor is growing his facial hair because of the upcoming role or if he just wanted a change, but either way, he’s rocking it!

Prior to Nathan’s appearance on the protest lines, the star had been noticeably absent from social media in recent months, and fans couldn’t wait to find out why.
Among the comments on the posts that remain on his feed, many have asked the same thing. “Where did you go?” One follower recently wrote: “How are you? You’ve been quiet. I hope you’re ok. Keep us posted,” another added. Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Can you please post something or a selfie? We miss you and your rude handsome face.”

Nathan’s little gathering with Novice The cast comes as a welcome surprise amid the show’s shooting delays. While the fifth season was broadcast earlier this year, the sixth part is currently on hiatus due to the ongoing strikes of the writers and actors. Currently, Novice is not included in ABC’s fall schedule, so it’s highly likely that the sixth series will receive a mid-season 2024 release date.

The new episodes were reportedly supposed to start filming at the end of June, ready to air in the fall, but that has now been delayed. As for the spin-off drama series, Newcomer: the fedsABC has yet to reveal if a second season will air at all.
On the other hand, industry insiders have predicted that the strike will be resolved by the fall, and if this is true, it is very possible that filming of new episodes will be underway at the end of the year. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see!

Responding to fans’ concerns, series creator Alexi Hawley also assured that season six production will not be affected by Nathan Fillion’s casting in James Gunn’s Superman: The Legacy.
The writer was responding to a Twitter post by TV Line, which shared an article asking if Nathan’s role in the film could further delay the release of season six. “Not!” he simply commented, and fans were grateful for the reassurance. One person wrote: “Thank you for the clarification, much appreciated Alex.”
