The Royal Queensland Beer Awards 2024 celebrated Australia’s best brewers, recognizing excellence in brewing since 1875. Moffat Beach Brewing Co’s Trilogy Best Coast IPA was named Grand Champion, amid a showcase of exceptional talent and innovation in the beer industry.
Royal Queensland Beer Awards 2024
The Royal Queensland Beer Awards, a major competition for brewers in Australia, has returned in 2024. The event started again in 2019 after a period of absence. Breweries from all over Australia compete to make the best beer. The winners receive recognition and prizes.
The best beer of the year wins a special prize of $5,000 and can be exhibited at various events. Thanks to the support of Treasury Brisbane, a new award is presented to an up-and-coming South East Queensland brewery. This year, Moffat Beach Brewing won the big prize with their Trilogy Best Coast IPA. It is their second victory in a row. They won with another beer, Moff’s Summer Ale, in 2023 and again in 2020. It shows that they are really good at making great beer.
Head judge, Steve “Hendo” Henderson, said Moffat Beach Brewing does a great job making top quality beer every year. Other winners included Melbourne-based Stomping Ground, Slipstream Brewing and Hiker Brewing, which opened last year. The awards ceremony was held at the Brisbane Showgrounds, where 48 judges sampled over 600 beers from 87 different breweries. It’s a big deal for the beer industry in Australia.

Royal Queensland Beer Awards
The Royal Queensland Beer Awards is a major competition for beer producers in Australia. It has been held since 1875, which makes it a very old and respected event. Brewers from all over the country can join, as long as they produce beer for commercial sale.
The competition brings together a special group of people who know a lot about beer, such as brewers, beer writers and other important people in the industry. They work together to rate beers and decide which are the best. One of the biggest prizes is the Grand Champion Beer Trophy.
The winner not only receives a fancy trophy, but also receives $5,000 to learn more about brewing and advance the industry. In addition, they boast their winning beer at two major venues in Brisbane. Another cool part of the competition is the chance for new Queensland breweries to shine. There is an award just for them, called The Star Entertainment Group Emerging Queensland Brewer. It’s for people who have been brewing for three years or less and have already made a big impact.
