The stunning image that sent the internet into a spin… but can you work it out?

AT first glance, this picture seems to feature an array of stars over a rugged mountain range.

But, if you look closer, you’ll notice some distortion around where there the trees are – but can you figure out what’s going on?

Filmmaker Kevin Wolf, based in San Francisco, captured the stunning shot at California’s Yosemite National Park on a clear day.

He noticed that the twinkling sand and pebbles in a lake looked convincingly like stars – and when he flipped the picture over he saw that he was right.

Sharing the image on Reddit, he wrote: “I flipped this photo upside down because the sand under the river kinda looked like stars.”

The water is so crystal clear that the mountains are perfectly reflected on its surface – which lends to a super realistic upside down image.

Only the slight ripples in the middle of the photo give it away.

One admire wrote: “Spectacular! Almost like looking at a shot of night and day!”

“Best ‘star’ photo of Yosemite yet!”, another added.

The Yosemite National Park, in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains, attracts millions of visitors each year and is well known for its impressive natural scenery.
