Theresa Nist Has Bridal Wardrobe Malfunction Mid-Golden Bachelor Wedding Ceremony — but Gerry Can’t Look Away!

Theresa Nist chose a sparkly dress for her wedding to Gerry Turner on Thursday night – but the night didn’t go without one little mishap.

Before the couple could seal their nuptials with a kiss, one of the straps on Nist’s Badgley Mischka dress snapped! However, nothing could fall on the happy couple’s parade, and the rest of the ceremony went off without a hitch. In fact, Turner couldn’t take his eyes off his bride!

The Golden Bachelor, 72, and his bride, 70, exchanged vows live on ABC, after getting engaged on the finale of last year’s show.

Nist walked down the aisle in a “traditional and modern” Badgley Mischka gown fit for a princess.

The dress Nist chose featured a strapless plunging neckline and a fitted bodice with a mermaid silhouette. It also had a voluminous tulle train for added drama down the aisle. The bride topped off her look with a matching veil to complete her look.

Nist brought her loved ones to help her choose the dress, including her daughter Jen Woolston and others The Golden Bachelor contestant Susan Noles.

“I got these incredibly beautiful dresses from Badgley Mischka and I was blown away,” Nist told PEOPLE. “I asked each of these beautiful women to pick their favorite. And then I chose three of my own and went down the stairs with them. And as for the dress, they unanimously thought this was a good dress. I think Susan was so proud because I chose it!”

During Golden wedding special, Nist showed off several dresses she didn’t choose before revealing the winning dress. As soon as she entered the room, all her loved ones clapped and shed a few tears. “This is the one,” Nist told everyone, clearly in love with the beautiful dress she would finally wear for her wedding to Turner.

At the ceremony, Turner stood by her side in a traditional tuxedo, while Nist was joined by her daughter as her matron of honor. Her daughter-in-law Amanda Nist and Turner’s daughters Angie Warner and Jenny Young were bridesmaids, while Turner’s granddaughters Charlee and Payton were junior bridesmaids. All wore Badgley Mischka to match the bride.

This is the second wedding for Nist and Turner. Nist first married William “Billy” Nist when she was 18 before he was drafted into the Vietnam War. They were married for more than 42 years before he died in 2014.

Turner was also married to his wife Toni Turner for more than 40 years, before she died in 2017.

For Nist’s first trip down the aisle, she wore an equally dreamy, long-sleeved gown she bought at a period warehouse. It featured puffy sleeves and a high neckline. She also wore a romantic veil made of what looked like lace floral appliqués that rested on top of the headdress and wrapped around her long hair.

Her husband wore a white tuxedo, classic black trousers, a black bow tie and traditional shoes.

Speaking to PEOPLE last year, Turner said he wanted to make sure Nist was happy with the wedding planning this time around because he knew her first wedding was rushed as she and her husband-to-be tried to get down the aisle before he headed to war.

“See, you’ve got to remember, Theresa didn’t make it—when she was first around, she didn’t have much time to plan, and neither did I, really,” Turner said. “We didn’t have much time and [we were] pretty broke, both of them. So this is kind of big. We want to do it so that we don’t miss a single moment.”

Turner and Nist’s relationship unfolded during the inaugural season The Golden Bachelorwhich resulted in Turner getting down on one knee and proposing to Nista with a “vintage inspired” Neil Lane Couture ring.

“The symbolism is so important,” Turner told PEOPLE exclusively about the ring he picked out at the jeweler. “It was like, as soon as she put it on, again, it was like, ‘Oh, my God, this is this joyful happiness that I want to feel, that I want everyone to see.'”
